Huge Vintage Villa Grove Cuff

This over 100 carats of Villa Grove Turquoise - original purchaser bought this in 1974 from Al Turney in Gallup - Designed and made in the Carl Luthey Studio - made by Ramon Platero - oddly enough there is none of his famous leaf work on this, there was a huge amount of silver and detail put into this! It’s a beauty!! Original purchaser took a photo and made a card of info. when he purchased the cuff , this card and photo survived with the piece all these years, that’s always a treasure when you can get all that info. with a piece.

What a beautiful bracelet…looks like stamp work and over-lay…
Hate to be a stick in the mud… but to me, your stone looks more like the Az. ’ Old Morenci’… which is also very rare… It looks similar to ‘Turquoise. Mt.’ but with pyrite and other matrix…, The People I worked with at one time owned Villa Grove, ( Colo) it seemed to be to always be a bit bluer/w black matrix.
I used to call my self a stone snob… as I do love rocks… and they love me also…
something to think about… Janet

I would agree, but this cuff came with original info. Al Turney with card etc. - Luthey Studio and photos from time of purchase which is rare in itself -there are stones from different mines that are hard to even tell apart even by the best stone people…and of course there can be different variations in mines -

We purchased a small batch of Villa Grove that looked very similar to this stone. From my understanding this area is owned by a company that exclusively mines gold, no more turquoise.

I know you can not get the turquoise anymore, had heard it was under water or something like that - this cuff is so heavy the stone is 2 inches by 1,25 and is such a bright electric blue - selling or trading -
