I have a buckle set with seven matched conchas, all sterling, which I bought from a seller in New Mexico. It appears to be Navajo work, heavy overlay. The only marking is an inverted (point downward) arrowhead with a capital R stamped inside the arrowhead, just above the “sterling” stamp. Would love to know the source of this set. Thanks in advance for any info!
Ernest Rangel uses a stamp like this, but his work is sandcast. Can you send a picture?
I lost track of this forum! sorry Jason.
The buckle set came with 7 matched conchos - they are very heavy and did not work out well on my husband’s belt so have been in a drawer. This is not overlay work - layered/soldered sterling plate by the looks of the buckle. Conchos could be cast…Again, thanks!
Yes, this would be Ernest Rangel. He is from the Thoreau, NM area. I have a little information on him here, http://data.perrynulltrading.com/artist/ernest-rangel/
